1981  founds "Renzo Piano Building Workshop"
1995  receives arts prize Praemium Imperiale awarded by
         the
imperial family of Japan
         receives the Dutch Erasmus Prize
1998  receives Pritzker Architecture Price
1999  designs a watch for the Swatch Summer Collection
2008  becomes honorary citizen of Sarajevo
2013  appointed as Senator for life in Italy
