Oscar NIEMEYER

1907  born in Rio de Janeiro / Brazil 1934  graduates in architecture at Nacional de Belas          Artes in Rio de Janeiro 1945  joins the Communist Party 1947-53  replaces Le Corbusier at planning commitee              for building the UN Headquarters in New York 1966  goes to French exile because military dictatorship 1982  returns to Brazil 1988  receives Pritzker Price 2004  receives arts prize Praemium Imperiale          awarded by the imperial family of Japan 2012  passes away in Rio de Janeiro
