Parents take their sons - three or five years old - and their daughters - three or seven years old - in kimono, suits or dresses to the Shintô shrines to express their thanks to the deities for their good health  and to pray for future blessing. The most popular shrines in Toykô for this festival are the Meiji-jingû, Hie-jinja and Kanda-myôjin.
