Renjô 下岡蓮杖
(1823-1914) |
Shimooka Renjô was one of the pioneers of photography in Japan.
He had learnt how to use a camera from Henry Heusken,
the Dutch translater of the American consule Townsend
Harris. Shimooka moved to Yokohama where he continued to learn
abour photography from other foreigners.
